Students earn classroom dollars for positive behavior, completing responsibilities, and showing respect. Each week, they get to count, save, and budget their money to spend in our classroom store. Watching them put their math skills into practice while also learning responsibility and decision-making has been such a powerful experience.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate! As soon as I introduced the coins and bills, students couldn't wait to get their hands on them. Many of them started practicing counting right away and even made comments like, \"This looks like real money!\" Their eyes lit up knowing they could use the money to buy fun rewards in our class store.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students are to use our classroom economy to deepen their understanding of financial literacy. We will be learning about saving versus spending, setting goals, and even how to \"make change.\" These lessons connect directly to real-world math skills and life lessons. The manipulatives make it hands-on, engaging, and meaningful for every student.","fullyFundedDate":1744032947245,"projectUrl":"project/counting-on-success-money-manipulatives/9073451/","projectTitle":"Counting on Success: Money Manipulatives for First Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wood","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9636475_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737427954834","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9636475"},{"teacherId":8829731,"projectId":9075804,"letterContent":"Thank you so so much for your generous support for our classroom. Thanks to you, our classroom has been transformed into a more engaging, hands-on learning environment where students are not only mastering important skills but also building confidence and a love for learning that will stay with them for years to come.\r\n\r\nThe materials you helped provide have made a tremendous difference in our daily instruction. We use them every single day to enhance our lessons across subjects, and I cannot overstate the impact they have had on my students. Before having access to these manipulatives, many of my students struggled to grasp important concepts, especially in areas like math, where abstract thinking can be incredibly challenging for young learners. Now, with tangible tools in their hands, students can physically see and manipulate objects to solve problems, understand patterns, and build number sense in ways that worksheets alone could never achieve.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the room when we pull out the manipulatives is contagious. Students who were once hesitant to participate are now eager to dive in and show what they know. They are talking more, collaborating more, and asking deeper questions because they feel empowered and successful. Some of my students who struggled the most academically have made incredible gains because they finally have the tools they need to make meaningful connections. They are no longer just memorizing procedures—they are truly understanding the \"why\" behind the learning.\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic growth, the materials have also supported important social-emotional skills. Working with hands-on tools has helped students practice taking turns, working cooperatively, and supporting one another. I have seen quieter students come out of their shells and take leadership roles during activities. The manipulatives have given every student, regardless of their learning style or ability level, a chance to shine.\r\n\r\nOne moment that truly stands out happened just last week. One of my students, who has consistently struggled with number bonds and addition facts, used the manipulatives to build different ways to make ten. Watching the look of pride on his face when he confidently explained his thinking to the class was a reminder of exactly why your generosity matters so much. That moment of success fueled his motivation for the rest of the day—and those small victories add up to lifelong confidence and achievement.\r\n\r\nI want you to know that your support has extended far beyond just purchasing materials. You have given my students a better chance to love learning, to believe in themselves, and to experience school as a place where they can grow, explore, and succeed. You have invested not just in supplies, but in the futures of 20 young learners who will carry the benefits of your kindness with them long after they leave my classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our project and in the potential of every child. Your generosity has made a lasting difference, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our journey.","fullyFundedDate":1739372319527,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-math-success-for-our-title-i-sc/9073426/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Math Success for Our Title I Scholars!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wood","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9636475_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737427954834","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9636475"},{"teacherId":9007319,"projectId":9084532,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my project.
