Creative Clay: Building Minds, Confidence, and Community Through Art

Help me give my students modeling clay, colored pencils, and markers for challenging, engaging, hands-on experiences through art that allow for personal expression.

My Project

My students are curious, imaginative, and eager to express themselves. They come from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, and many face challenges outside of school that make learning more difficult. Despite these obstacles, they show up ready to grow, learn, and connect.

In our classroom, we strive to build not just academic skills, but also a strong sense of self and community.

I believe art is a powerful way to achieve that.

My Project:

This project will provide students with clay and other art supplies for hands-on projects that combine creativity with problem-solving and personal expression.

The Impact:

Art isn't just about making beautiful things — it’s about thinking deeply, taking risks, and believing in yourself. Working with clay helps students:

Develop Critical Thinking: Students must plan, make design choices, and adapt when things don’t go as expected. These are real-world problem-solving skills that transfer beyond the art room.

Build Belonging: Art gives every student a voice. Group projects and shared exhibitions promote collaboration and pride, helping all students feel seen, valued, and connected.

Grow Self-Efficacy: There’s nothing like the pride a student feels when they hold a finished sculpture they created from scratch. That confidence builds motivation and resilience in all areas of learning.

For some of my students, art class is the place they feel most successful and free to be themselves. With your support, we can make sure that experience is rich, meaningful, and accessible to all.
