Our school acts as a safe space and close knit community for my students and for staff. Schools in Detroit don't always have a great reputation and these stereotypes hurt our students' ability to rise to their highest potential. The loving, exciting, and enthusiastic attitudes I have seen in my students are an incredible symbol of being committed to providing an equitable experience to all kids, regardless of school districts.
Our students are eager to learn and play, but our lack of resources can hinder them from having everything they need to learn and grow musically .
I can provide them with more hands-on experiences and materials thanks to donors like you!
A giant circle rug is a MUST for the music classroom! It gives my ASD students a home base of activities. It gives my lower elementary students a place to sing and dance. It gives my upper elementary students a place to learn folk dances from other cultures and games songs to gamify heavy content. It gives middle schoolers the chance to see one another while singing or having group discussions.
A classroom is a community, and that community deserves a home base for students and teachers to meet.
I am hoping that by having the ability to have a central space will give my students all of the things written above and more.
