I teach 26 second graders at a wonderful STEM Charter school that offers a multi-faceted, higher level learning environment. My amazing, industrious, and inquisitive students are the cherries on my cake, and arrive each day excited to learn, apply, and succeed.
I heard a saying that holds true, "The teacher, by the student, will be taught." A keen assessment of the teacher-student connection.
So, with that teaching, I am mindful to have productive exercises that will bolster their language, reading, and math skills.
My Project
Small group centers are an important component of the day with my love-to-learn students. It is wonderful to see them develop recently acquired skills via activities and games. My struggle is providing a variety of hands-on activities to keep up with their progress.
Providing a variety of activity choices offers students a means to expand required skills.
Language Arts and Math File Folders Games are great for helping young learners with language, reading, and number fluency skills. Access to color-coded magnetic letters, along with magnetic boards, gives them opportunities to further develop their phonics and spelling skills. Fun flash card games are a nice extension to learn math facts and sight words. Understanding parts of a whole is a critical math concept that will increase with a purposeful activity. When students are more engaged in their learning with hands-on activities they have a higher rate of retention.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our classroom, with hope you will donate to this worthwhile endeavor.
