My Students

My students are thriving young performing artists. They are exploring all aspects of performance from music literacy, character development, solo performance, and ensemble experiences. Performing arts experiences encourage collaboration.

Meeting students with 21st century, real-world learning opportunities is essential to providing relevance in a traditional performance ensemble.

I share this idea with my students often. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." ~Aristotle.

Our school is in the heart of a community that supports education and knows its value. Students are motivated and engaged. Students are eager to learn; they embrace a challenging work environment and express the desire to be the best in all endeavors.

My Project

The flexible seating requested will help me to design a calming corner for my students. Many of my students spend a lot of time in my room before and after school for rehearsals and individual voice or piano lessons. The creative calming corner would help those students as they are waiting for individual instruction. It would also help students who come to class and need a space to regain their composure.

A calming corner would add another level of support for the social and emotional needs of the students that I teach daily.

I believe providing this level of support benefits and helps my students to cope with the challenges they face as teens.
