My students are bursting with creative energy and are always looking for opportunities to express themselves through art. In our urban district, many of my students don't have access to basic art supplies at home. Distance learning means that students spend lots of time on their computers.
When students get a break from their screens, I want them to be able to choose an activity that provides a creative outlet.
Online learning is hard, and I hope to provide an opportunity for students to learn to use art as a way to relax and recharge their bodies and minds.
My Project
Creative Brain Breaks will give kids material kits to pick up at school to create age appropriate off screen art activities. I have listed different materials that will be divided by grade level for students to independently create a variety of different projects.
Kindergarteners will learn about patterns and color by creating designs with bingo markers, 1st graders will use clay to make an imaginary friend, 2nd graders will learn symmetry by using stampers to repeat images, 3rd graders will design doodle spinners to stimulate their ideas for doodles, 4th graders will DIY pattern dice to play drawing games, and 5th graders will use compass to create mandala designs.
These home learning supplies will be packaged with other learning materials and instructions so students can independently create their artwork.
