This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
You ever had to teach a group of kids who have so much going on in the outside world that it may be hard for them to focus and concentrate sometimes? That's the genre of children I deal with on a everyday basis, and yet they come into the Art room excited to create with a environment to clear their minds. I love it!
These urban kids have potential to defeat the stigma against them, and these materials would help them tremendously.
My Project
The materials make a huge difference for all of our students K-8. They love seeing new material ready to be used, they do a wonderful job taking care of their material especially when its time to create our crafts. I witnessed kids ask "When are we getting new markers, when are we getting new crayons, etc". To personally go inside my own pockets to ensure the happiness of these kids I know first hand how hard it is financially.
With help financially we would have enough material to last at least from September-May for the 2019-2020 school year, The projects allow the kids to explore their creativity, with the options of material only expands their creative minds.
