This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every year I get new bright-eyed students and I start to get them prepared for next year when they are in kindergarten. The classroom is brightly colored and students are eager to learn. In the mornings the students get breakfast in the classroom and at lunch, their lunch gets brought to the classroom. All of my students receive free lunch and breakfast.

This is the first year of schooling for many of my students, and it is wonderful to see their progression between September and June.

There are many challenges ahead of us in the school year but we can do it together.

My Project

In our classroom, students have a choice of what center they would like to go to each day. All of my students love going to the art center. They draw, cut, glue and use all different types of collage materials. They write their names, numbers, and create different things using their imaginations. Being able to use these requested materials, such as markers, pom-poms, beads, and Wikki Stix, will support the students by helping them make their names, count out items and create different things. If we receive an array of art supplies students can choose how they want to create their work. So much learning happens in the art center every day, and with these materials so much more can happen! Having these materials will enhance my students learning in mathematics by counting, sorting and comparing using the materials requested.
