My Project

My third grade students spend a long day learning in the classroom while sitting on hard chairs. This can be difficult for young bodies that need to move frequently. Having saucer chairs and standing desks on wheels will give my class the freedom to learn standing up, or from the comfort of a saucer chair.

My goal for this project is to create multiple learning spaces for students to use over the course of the day.

I would like to create a reading space with saucer chairs. Students can curl up into these to enjoy a good book. Additionally, I have found that saucer chairs can be a helpful option for students who need to decompress from daily stressors. Next, I always have a few students who need to stand at certain points in the day. Instead of having them stand uncomfortably next to their desk, they could use adjustable desks designed and easily maneuvered for standing.

My young students are so excited to come to school and learn. I admire the enthusiasm they bring to their learning each day. They deserve the comfort of a classroom environment with versatile seating options making their learning experience even more enjoyable.
