My Project
Our seventh grade life science students need supplies to make colorful culminating science projects at the end of the school year. Some items that would really make students projects pop are ink for our color printer, tri fold poster boards and card stock to print on.
The use of a supply of ink with a color printer would be something students could benefit from in many ways.
The use of an in-class color printer would allow students to print primary research materials from the internet for use outside of the classroom. They would also be able to scan pages from print resources from our school library and online textbooks. According to the General Learner Outcomes established by the Hawaii Department of Education, our students need to be able to use appropriate technologies for communication, collaboration, research, creating and problem solving. The requested items would assist students in achieving these goals and displaying them creatively.
Because my students come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, many do not have the use of computers or printers at home. Being able to print their work in color will increase their sense of pride in their work.
