My Students
My students are 5th graders located in the beautiful, capital city of Charleston, WV. They are eager learners and have hearts of gold. A large majority of the students come from low socio-economic homes, but that doesn't keep them from being engaged in the classroom.
I feel that the more engaged in learning they are, the more they will enjoy it, and the more they will retain.
These students love cooperative learning and completing projects. They work hard and are always willing to put forth 100% effort.
My Project
My students love working in collaborative groups and being involved in project-based learning opportunities. We often work as a fifth grade team to allow students to guide their learning through hands-on experiences. Many times, students get discouraged because of a lack of materials and not being able to create what they have envisioned. I want the students to have access to technology and materials to be able to bring their projects and classwork to life how they have it pictured in their creative little minds.
I feel that giving students an opportunity to showcase their creativity will boost their confidence in their work.
These Cricut cutting system tools may provide some encouragement for someone that doesn't always participate or feel as intelligent as the others. The Cricut machine, tools, and mat will give students a creative outlet to make things for projects, classwork, and presentations that they wouldn't be able to by hand. I want to allow students experiences that will allow them to explore their individual talents and help them discover things they are good at.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
