I teach some of the most awesome kids in my city. Their enthusiasm for coming to music class is apparent when walking down the halls. Every morning I'll have several children call me out and say, "We get to come to you, today." I love it. My students come from various backgrounds, mostly middle to low-income. They exemplify the definition of cultural melting pot. Teaching children from across the globe who speak little to no English is a challenge, but the one thing we all have in common is music.
By empowering students through art, I use various techniques to engage students in music that supports what they are learning in their regular classes.
Our student population has increased, allowing for music classes five days a week. This is the first time the students at our school will receive full time music, art, and physical education classes. Now, it's time to prepare our classes for full time use!
My Project
With the addition of a laptop in our classroom, students will be able to expand their music education through a digital platform.
Students will be able to use our online music curriculum to tap into their potential for creating and arranging their own music, while also making real world connections with math and science!
That's right! They will have access to a kid-friendly music studio. Students will also be able to explore the world of dance by creating virtual choreography.
With the use of a student work station, I can provide alternative lessons to engage those students who have difficulty staying focused! Students will also be able to learn the math and science behind sound and counting rhythms!
