My students need 25 copies of the "Wordly Wise 3000" vocabulary workbooks.

Excitement, emotion, and education are the three E's that occur in my classroom every single day, and to enhance the three e’s even more, I am in need of your help. I teach fourth grade mathematics, science, social studies, and literacy (reading, writing, and language arts). My school recently opened in 2007. It is a charter school that is in the process of becoming an International Baccalaureate accredited elementary and middle school. The students are in single gendered classrooms and I currently teach the all girls 4th grade class. The students are exposed to a variety of arts, including drama, music, and art, and a second language-Mandarin Chinese. My school is in a high need community that is rich in culture and diversity. As I have been teaching there only since January, I believe my school has so much potential, and I look forward to continuously teaching our mission: Helping students become global citizens.
In addition, my school is at a particular turning point to where if we do not make Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) this year, we will be considered a failing school. For a school to meet AYP, students have to pass mathematics, reading, and language arts portions on standardized tests. As I lacked many resources this past year, I find this urgent to get as many resources as I can for my students to succeed not only on standardized tests but in their lives. Many of my students can not afford to buy outside resources, so it is imperative that I find other means to get them what they need.
As a result, I would like each of my students to have a Wordly Wise workbook. Research has proven that Wordly Wise 3000 improves students' reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. This workbook will be used daily for all of my students, regardless of their learning level, to advance their literacy skills. Even though this workbook focuses on literacy, the critical thinking involved with this activity will assist in these students' mathematics activities. Ultimately, this will increase my students' desires to read, write, and learn.
By donating to these Wordly Wise books, you will make it possible for students that have problems reading and writing to be more confident in literacy. By donating to this cause, students that are advanced will continue to improve their skills in this area. Even though this work book is one material resource, it can truly make a difference in a child's life.
