Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from across the globe and face enormous challenges. We are a high poverty school and my students come from many backgrounds. Many are English learners and speak Spanish, Korean, Bengali, Tagalog, Russian, and more as their first language.

My students are a bright, motivated and incredibly diverse group of middle school students.

I am inspired by their hard work and dedication to learning. In the face of challenges, they are very resilient.

As a Language Arts teacher, I want to bring my love of literature, writing and character development to my students as they navigate growing up in Los Angeles.

My Project

My students love learning and they love challenges. Giving them the opportunity to incorporate STEM activities in their learning is exciting for me as an educator. I want students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers and creative in their approaches in every area of their lives! STEM projects are an innovative way to let students explore and learn.

Students will be able to incorporate the items from this project as they create their own STEM group projects.

Our school offers a maker's space with a green screen and a chance for their imaginations to soar! Science, technology, engineering and math are everywhere. Students will have the chance to work with others and create their own projects using these tools. We will be able to bring our technology easily to the maker's space and use them to create with these materials. Protective gear will help our materials stay safe and damage free so we can use it for a long time. We have requested a protective sleeve to hold the iPad (especially if transporting from the maker's space room back to the classroom), a Bagsmart Electronics organizer bag to organize cables, lightening cables for charging iPads and Apple Pencils, back covers for iPads, a screen protector 2 pack to protect the iPad from the screen getting scratched or broken, and an Apple Pencil cap protector to keep the apple pencils from losing the cap while using them to draw and create our ideas. We will be able to use these items in conjunction with our other technology that we recently got funded. Having protective gear will ensure that this will be in use for a long, long time!
