This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a classroom full of eager, and caring students. They are so full of life and love to learn! I love watching my students try new things. I teach a multi-age class of 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade. I have the privilege of teaching them reading, writing, and social studies through the workshop model. I love embarking on this journey with them!

My classroom is an environment where students have a choice.

When presented with a topic students come up with a list of questions they want answers to. This is what guides my instruction. I love being able to teach standards and teach what students really want to know at the same time!

My Project

Our classroom has been lucky enough to receive a Cricut machine as a donation. My students have been learning how to use the circuit machine during our morning soft start time. Students have been signing up to take the “Cricut Class” from myself or a student instructor who has chosen to come in on their own time to learn about the machine in order to teach other students. Students have been creating with the machine and are loving it!

While my students are having a blast creating with the Cricut machine, we are running low on supplies to be able to create in the way students want – for projects, customizing school supplies, and personalizing shirts, hats, and shoes.

We are currently working on projects to teach others about an event that lead up to the Revolutionary War. Students are getting creative with these projects and have been using the Cricut machine to help them. Some students are creating board and card games, some students are making videos, creating animations, and flip books to teach others about their event. These supplies will help students further their creativity on this project and projects to come. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our project!
