This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school values are GRIND -- Gratitude, Respect, Integrity, Never Give Up, and Discipline. My goal is to create a classroom environment that empowers my students to "GRIND" each day. My students live in a neighborhood where students have historically fallen in the bottom 5% of test scores in the state and the majority of my students live in poverty. My students are sponges who are constantly soaking up new experiences and knowledge in our classroom. They are readers, leaders, dreamers, and problem solvers.
My Project
Our school is operating in a hybrid learning model meaning that while the majority of our students are learning virtually, we have a handful of in-person learners as well. One way that we have tried to keep in-person learning engaging is through project based learning. We add standards based crafts and activities to our reading instruction and our students love it. We need a cricut to help make even more intricately unique designs and help our students to create what they imagine. The cricut will be used to enhance our reading language arts instruction.
