This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a poverty-stricken, urban neighborhood. Many come from broken and unstable homes. They attend a Title I school and are eligible for free lunch.

Our school's population is made up of African-American, Hispanic, and Kurdish students.

Many of them are learning English as a second language.

It is important for my students to be able to express themselves through their art. They love art! They thrive in an artistic environment. They need opportunities to show how creative they can be.

My Project

I have requested colored pencils to start off the school year. My students use crayons and other drawing supplies on a daily basis. Due to the expense, my younger classes have not had much opportunity to experiment with colored pencils. I would like to have enough sets so that I can make them available to all my students.

Drawing supplies are essential for students to build the fine motor skills that children need for everyday tasks.

My art budget has been drastically cut. Without the help of generous donors, we cannot afford even the most basic supplies. Please help me to get my students the supplies we need for a successful art program.
