Creating Virtual Communities With a Good Book!

Help me give my students these high quality diverse titles. These engaging reads will take them into the stories of outstanding authors and allow them to connect with each other in our virtual book clubs.

My Students

Our school provides many opportunities to grow and gain experiences that may not be provided elsewhere for our students. The teachers and administration strive to bring relevant learning through strong instruction and unique activities such as this one. Our students understand the importance of their education and work hard to reach their teachers expectations in the classroom.

As educators we try to include as many opportunities and resources as possible to help them become stronger students and more active participants in their community.

My Project

Our students are looking for more ways to connect to their peers and to their learning in this virtual setting. I have a weekly virtual book club with students from across the grade levels and with different abilities. Having a book at home to read from will allow them to participate in the common reading in our book club. Not to mention the portability of a book would allow them to read in various places in their home learning environments and further embed reading into their daily routines. In seeing their wonderful faces online when I shared this idea they were enthusiastic about how having a book at home would help them during this time. We would be able to use these for our literature circles in the club and they would be shared with the next groups when we are able.
