Creating Two New School Nursing Clinics From Scratch!
Help me give my students excellent health care through desperately needed medical and hygiene supplies as I set up nursing clinics in an economically challenged upper and lower school.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
As a Registered Nurse, I was hired to set up and manage two new nursing clinics for an upper and lower school system. The budget is very limited and we are sorely lacking in medical/first aid supplies and hygiene products.
In order for our school to offer our students the very best healthcare and hygiene care they deserve, we need the tools to assess and treat a variety of medical issues.
I have requested items such as rolled gauze, ace wrap, and tape to splint sprains, a pulse oximeter and a stethoscope to assess those with breathing problems such as asthma, thermometers to determine fevers, and bandages to care for injuries including cuts and scrapes. Ice packs are needed everyday for bumps and bruises. And hygiene products like deodorant and dental floss, especially for middle schoolers, are basic goods that often our families cannot afford.
Your generous support would mean so much to so many of our children so they can benefit from good health and cleanliness. Most of our students come from low-income households. Often family resources are very limited and our students turn to the school for the help they desperately need. The gratefulness in their eyes and hearts makes every gesture of kindness and help that we can provide, meaningful beyond measure.
With their fundamental needs met, students are more comfortable and better equipped to meet personal and educational challenges and achieve success for themselves and their community.
