My Students

Our students come from a low-income area, with nearly 100% qualifying for free and reduced-price lunches.

This environment can produce certain obstacles to education, such as an inability to meet a child's basic needs, working parents who may lack the time or resources to provide academic supports, and a whole slew of other difficulties.

While these challenges exist, they do not deter our students from striving towards goals and succeeding in endeavors.

Through our commitment to developing relationships, building supports, and creating a positive learning environment, I continue to see the gap lessen. Our school does everything it can to support the needs of our children both academically and socially. Our children continue to show scholarship, purpose, and grit, and need a classroom that will continue to foster their growth.

My Project

When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind. If only people were inspired to "choose kind" more often than choosing right.

I would like all of my students to have the opportunity see and the world through technology.

My Students will learn about family, appearances, friendship, isolation, kindness, courage, identity, and suffering using the Chromebook. I will have my students work in groups. My students will use the chromebooks and headsets to do research on diversity. One group of students will find videos on tolerance watch the video and take notes on how to be kind to one another. The other group will use their notes taken from the video they watched earlier and use the chromebook to type a summary of what they. The Chromebook will help my students to edit and spell check their work.

Having the Chromebook would allow my students to experience the real world of many, through technology. Through the Chromebooks and headsets, my students will engage in meaningful discussions, writing assignments, and other work that will help them explore the their own feelings and struggles with fitting in.
