My Students
Millbury is a tight knit community where it seems everyone knows everyone. Many of the students are involved in various clubs, sports, and extracurriculars, spending a lot of time here after school. There are over 20 student clubs including robotics, environmental council, GSA, and Marching Band. Many of the teachers and staff went through the same schools that they are now teaching and working in, contributing to the strong student-teacher relationships that we try to foster as educators.
Being such a tight knit town, students are very involved in the community.
The following are some of the community projects our students are working on this year: Heroes in the Community (8th Grade Toys for Tots), Wrapped Up In Warm Fuzzies, Warming Woolie Hearts, Reading Buddies & Immigration Celebration, AP Chemistry Magic Show, Project Earth Links & Envirothon Volunteers.
My Project
CPR and AED training for students would dramatically increase the number of first responders in both the school and community, creating citizens who are armed with how to save a life. Millbury students have the ability to be responsible decision makers and contributing members of their community. Our students are already involved in the community in their many endeavors. Learning how to correctly administer CPR contributes to the student body's ability to make informed constructive choices based on ethical standards and safety concerns.
To make training more effective and realistic, manikins are used for skills practice in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes.
Students will be able to breathe air into the manikin to practice rescue breathing and the manikin chest will rise, because there is a lung bag (airway) inside. They will do chest compressions (push on the manikin chest the proper way) to practice getting blood flowing during CPR practice.
