This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am so excited to implement Wonder as a book study in my classroom. This book was written to teach children and adults that kindness really does matter. The author states, “What they do and what they say really matters and impacts the people around them, and that if they’re unkind the ramifications of that are far-reaching.” The text has an easy and humorous tone; humor is used to lighten sensitive situations.
The book Wonder will give my students the opportunity to learn rigorous literature standards in a fun and engaging way.
The novel uses analogies, idioms, dialogue, and figurative language throughout. The novel has a wide range of vocabulary to include high-frequency, multiple meaning, and subject related vocabulary. Sentence structure throughout the book is varied.
In addition, the incentive and reading supplies will help keep my students organized as we dive into the book!
