Students today are surrounded by technology. I am lucky to work in a district that strives to ensure that technology is part of each and every classroom. As teachers, we need to ensure that each student is prepared to live in this digital age. Fortunately, my district provides the students with the opportunity to use a MacBook Air and an IPad right in the classroom. This allows students to access their online programs that support our curriculum. While they provide us with these amazing tools, my grade level is in need of personal headphones for each student. Headphones will allow the students to have a more personal approach to their learning since the programs are designed to each individual level. Currently, we are using headphones that are 3-4 years old and are falling apart or broken and can no longer be used. You can imagine the noise level in a classroom when you have 28+ students working on individual lessons. My hope is to create a classroom environment where students can work with no noise distractions while using computers. Headphones will allow the students to be focused on their lessons without the noise distractions from other computers. With this grant, I would like to purchase a set of headphones for each 1st grader on our campus to be used at school. There are currently 175 students in first grade. I am requesting to purchase 180 because our student numbers fluctuate weekly. Thank you for your consideration and support to create a learning environment where students can achieve their full potential.
