Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The 3rd grade students in my classroom are a diverse group of young people. They are eager to learn about pretty much anything I am willing to teach them! They love learning new things and definitely love it when they can teach me as well!
These young people are the future Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics leaders of the 21st Century!
The jobs that we, as teachers, are preparing them for have yet to be invented! That being said, they are so willing to learn about science and engineering. Both of the subjects are taught in my room within math and language arts as well as independently. My students are excited each and every day to add to their knowledge.
That being said, they are also very eager to express their learning through art. They want to draw, paint, and create every chance they get!
My Project
Giving my students the chance to express themselves through creativity will encourage them to continue to strive for excellence in their academics as well.
The lessons will not only help them with following directions and collaborative discussions but also with being able to have a creative escape that will ultimately increase their love of learning new things.
Art has all but been eliminated in the elementary classrooms. I want to bring it back because I see the reactions on the faces of my students when they are given the chance to create! And when it’s time to get back to academics, they are ready to learn!
