This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will give my students the resources to look at the varying biochemical cycles from different angles. They will start from the smallest particles and work their way up to molecules moving through Earth's different biochemical cycles.

These tools are to help my students express their knowledge through hands-on activities.

They will work their way through from the smallest atom to how those atoms travel through cycles. They will start by poster brainstorming the parts and history of an atom on whiteboards, lab tables, or posters. Once they have identified the parts, they will use the geomakers to build different isotope structures. After they have mastered the parts of the atom, they will work on how those atoms travel through ecosystems and build models with Legos, blocks, playdough, and paper. They will construct 3D models of where carbon is in an ecosystem and what forms it can take as different molecules. The students will then go outside at school with their pocket microscopes and try to see what atoms, molecules, or cells are visible with their microscopes. They will be able to see that on a molecular level, carbon can take different forms all around us.
