Creating the BEST Classroom Environment

My Students

My students are some of the most caring and simply good-natured students I have ever encountered. Each day I come to my school I am reminded as to why this is my home, and it is because of these students.

My students represent a broad spectrum of different backgrounds and, when challenged, I have found will rise to whatever bar you set before them.

I am proud to be an educator at this school and in this district, due in part because of them.

They have proven to me time and time again that regardless of what challenges they might have in life, whether it be a difficult home situation, disabilities they are working to be successful with, or academic struggles they are seeking to overcome, that they will put forth a solid effort, all they need is a little guidance and support.

My Project

There are many different things that can impact a student performance in class but one if the biggest and easiest to improve is the environment in the classroom. My goal with this project is to bring more items into the room that will help to create the most comfortable and least restrictive learning environment I can for all of my students.

Things such as alternate lighting to soften the environment, seat cushions to make their seats more comfortable, and essential oils to help improve the overall classroom climate would be very simple but effective ways to create a more positive atmosphere in the classroom.

I have brought such things into the classroom in the past but we are in desperate need of an upgrade to some of those items and with the shift in the layout of the classroom due to social distancing and other restrictions we are in need of adding a few more of these things, and replacing some others.

The LED lighting will be mounted on the walls around the classroom using the Command hooks, and will serve to provide a softer lighting atmosphere in the classroom instead of the more harsh bright white LED lights in the ceiling.

The seat cushions will replace some that have worn out over normal use and also be added to the extra desks now present in the classroom, so all students can benefit from the comfort they offer.

The essential oils have been a huge part of the classroom atmosphere over the past couple of years, and we are just in need of some replacements and other options to use during different activities.

All of these items will serve to improve the environment in the classroom for ALL students, this year and beyond.
