This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are mildly intellectual disabled. They need the iPads to increase their memory skills. The applications that can be added to the iPads will be used daily with students to establish a routine that they will eventually be able to do on their own.
My students are in grades 3-5.
They require special attention in order to access the curriculum. They require verbal cues and prompts during instruction. My students are mildly intellectual disabled. They need the iPads to increase their memory skills. My school is composed of students who are basically on free and reduced lunch. They do know have the opportunity to be introduced to technology in their homes.
My Project
My students will use the iPads to help with reading and number recognition. They will also be able to follow commands which are difficult for them without cues. The students and teacher will work on these skills one on one during small group time. The iPads will develop their fine motor skills and encourage them to engage in group activities.
Donating will also assist my students ability to transfer information from the classroom setting to hopefully being able to participate in testing using a form of technology.
It will improve the self esteem of my students and expose them to a new style of learning.
