Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I public school where students are resilient and curious learners. Our classroom is diverse and is representative of many cultures. Students show up each day with an eager mindset to learn and fail forward. We have created a safe environment built on respect and have strengthened our collective sense of belonging.
Our classroom is filled with many diverse learners that include students classified with special needs and English learners.
Many of our students come from poverty, but that doesn't stop them from showing up every day ready to learn. Students are full of questions and love STEM!
My Project
My students in 5th grade have a lot of materials that they use throughout the day. We recently got new tables, but they do not have a space for students to store their materials. Therefore, our students are crowded with lots of materials, which is not conducive to a good learning environment.
This project would help all my students become more successful by giving them a tool that will help them daily.
As an AVID classroom, one of the key goals is to teach organizational skills. With this project, we will be setting good examples for students and it will empower them to collaboratively work better. With more free work spaces, students will have the capacity to do more!
