Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every minute, every second technology is increasing by leaps and bounds. To be successful, students must be able to navigate the information super highway effectively. Without access to current technology, my students lack the skills necessary to compete successfully in an ever changing world.
My students attend a public school in California.
The school is located in an economically disadvantaged community. Despite their home situations, my students are fun and energetic seven and eight year olds. They are eager and seek every opportunity to learn. They don't have this opportunity at home. The lack of education and home financial issues creates a problem for the families. This tablet will give them the opportunity to enhance their learning in a whole new level.
My Project
I am requesting a tablet to be used in my classroom during small group intervention. The tablet will enable me to teach my students how to use technology and to access sites for increased learning opportunities. I only have 2 working computers in my classroom at this time. This leaves me with very little opportunity to provide access to technology and its various uses for my students. The tablet would enable me to teach students how to promote self learning through small group activities, using the tablet. This technology would make such a difference and would motivate students to follow more educational projects. It will bring fun to learning. My students will be able to learn how to use technology, be able to have access to better reading materials, and be able to learn using new materials.
Our nation is making a shift towards technology-based education.
This means all students must be proficient in using today's technology to help them succeed in all other areas of learning. Access to technology is vital for these students to become successful in today's society. Giving my students access to technology that is only a dream for most of them would mean opening a whole new world of possibilities. They will be the next generation of scientists, doctors, engineers, and leaders.
