My school is a small, low-income school district about an hour and a half south of St. Louis. These students are great kids with tons of potential. Sometimes they just need a little extra help to ensure they get the same possibilities as other students.
I never thought I would still be in this district seventeen years into my career.
However, I fell in love with the school, community, and students. I can't imagine anywhere else I'd rather be. I hope to instill in these students a love of learning and confidence to shoot for their dreams!
My Project
This year we were given the opportunity to have a computer cart to share with only one other classroom. These are used to help students familiarize themselves with technology so they can succeed throughout their school careers.
I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING!
I hear this multiple times when we get the computers out. We only have a few pairs of headphones that are literally falling apart. Even worse, they aren't even the right size for their little heads! So, most students must keep the sound all the way down.
Most importantly, like most schools, we do many tests online. Currently, I can only allow 3-4 students to test at once. This is because they must have headphones on for these tests. Some of these tests take up to an hour to do. This means it can take days for my class to complete one test. These headphones would allow the students to ALL be able to test at once so that I can get back to the regular classroom instruction FAST!
