Creating Success With Innovation, Collaboration, and Imagination
Help me give my students adventures in the fine arts that will build life-long skills! These visual arts supplies and storage will provide a year of arts-integrated experiences for my first-graders.
Our school is committed to high academic standards and believes that learning is fun! As we prepare the “children of today for the world of tomorrow,” we strive to meet all the needs of our diverse student population through a curriculum that integrates the fine arts with all subject areas. Teachers work together in an open-spaced environment to create exciting lessons that support academic and social needs. Students are taught to be creative problem solvers, collaborative thinkers, and caring individuals who will contribute to the community and the world.
My first graders arrive each day ready for a new learning adventure!
Their natural curiosity, positive attitudes, and endless energy are a teacher's dream class. Our school serves an ethnically diverse student population, with 60% of students coming from low-income homes.
My Project
Collaboration, empathy, creativity, perseverance, cultural awareness, and improved academic performance are just a few of the benefits of an arts-integrated curriculum. These art lessons introduce students to the many diverse cultures of our world and build a healthy appreciation for differences in our society. The materials provided from this project will be used in conjunction with school district-provided art supplies to store & create student projects during the school year. Each week first-graders are invited to explore our curriculum themes through the lens of an artist. Music, visual arts, dance, and theater experiences provide an enhanced understanding of lesson topics and offer opportunities for children to collaborate on imaginative projects together.
What can your imagination create?
Our classroom is a place to explore this question while learning important life skills that will lead to success in any career field. Our folktale theater performance not only enhances student understanding of storytelling across world cultures, but this public speaking experience also builds confidence under the pressure of public scrutiny. Our visual arts lessons offer opportunities to explore personal feelings, the wonders of nature, and our community. When creating an art piece, each decision is a personal expression that develops young students' self-awareness and identity. Perseverance is practiced as the children work hard to create kinetic art sculptures and rhythm patterns. First-graders learn the importance of global citizenship and how they can make a difference in our world by creating art that teaches others about problems in our local communities and across our planet.
To successfully integrate the arts into every subject area requires plenty of materials. Art supplies, dramatic props, and other creative materials are cluttering our learning space! This storage cabinet will provide us with a safe, accessible space to organize our supplies.
