Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our classroom computers are old and have a hard time keeping up with the newer operating systems. With the keyboards missing keys, faulty computer mice and computers that are well past their prime, my students would benefit from having new technology infused into their everyday education!

My students are 12 tenth grade students who have been diagnosed with varying levels of Emotional Disturbances with accompanying learning disabilities.

Judged often by their peers as well as their communities, my students can have a very negative outlook on school and completing in-depth research assignments. Through time, with an individualized, step by step approach, my students are able to understand that the work they create has value and should be celebrated. Unfortunately, my classroom lacks the technology to allow my students to be creative without getting on each others´ cases about not working fast enough. Together, we can help my students, who are for the first time making large academic strides, continue to grow, by providing them with technology that will encourage them to flourish while improving their ability to create multimedia presentations, access to google drive and to work on diverse topics within the curriculum!

My Project

In our modern world, every student should have regular access to the latest available technology and be trained on how to properly use it. Every classroom should not have old machines that work when they decide to work. While they may always have a special place in a museum, they should not be in classrooms.

I cannot prepare my students for their future with machines that have been outdated for over a decade.

With the Macbook Pro, my students will have regular access to using technology to enhance and individualize their education. Accompanying these materials, my students will create multimedia presentations to integrate them into class so that instruction appeals to all of my classrooms diverse learners. Every donation to this project is not just an investment into this Macbook Pro, but is also an investment towards my students futures, providing them with regular access to technology they need to be familiar with to be competitive in this technology based world. Be the first, be the next and more importantly be the last person to donate to this project to help create tech-savvy learners who are building a bridge to their futures!
