My Project

Next year will be my tenth year as a teacher, but it will be my second one in middle school. As a first time middle school teacher, I have spent this first year of 6th grade reimagining my classroom space in countless ways. My classroom is very small, and I need to fit a lot of students as well as their learning materials in it. We do not have lockers, and our classrooms lack storage and space.

Sixth grade is such an important year for students because they are coming into middle school with a lot of worries about the new environments they will be in and the responsibilities they will have.

My goal for this project is to maximize the space students have to move around the classroom. The standing desk gives me the flexibility to have what I need to teach effectively anywhere I am needed. The corner cabinet offers a space I can store some of their notebooks, so they have less to carry around on in their backpacks all day. Offering wobble chairs helps give more options to students who feel restricted by the limited space and movement.

All of the materials on my wish list will help manage the school supplies and furniture that are already a part of my classroom in a more functional, efficient way that can maximize space, organization, and learning for my students.

We have longer periods in our school, and my students need ample opportunities to get up and move to stimulate their learning and engagement. These organization tools will help my classroom become an inviting, energizing space for my students to learn. Help me provide students with a space they can call their own, so they can collaborate, engage, and learn with enthusiasm.
