Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 5th-grade students are very motivated and try very hard even though the odds are stacked against them. Many of them come from broken homes and face a lot of adversity in their lives. There is not very much stability in their homes.

I love that they come to school ready to learn and succeed.

I think they realize what important role education will have in their lives. They inspire me every day to be a better person.

My Project

These Storyworks magazines will give my students a variety of quality reading material to cover the educational standards that we are required to master. A variety of genres are covered in these magazines. There are fictional stories, non-fiction articles, poetry, and plays.

These magazines will give my students the confidence they need to see themselves as fluent readers.

I love the fact that so many of our learning goals can be attained by reading these magazines. The students can learn new vocabulary, grammar, how to debate successfully, and other topics we learn in the course of our 5th-grade year.
