Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Many of my members haven't been exposed to literature that interests them. Few, if any, have been given proper instruction on how to be a professional. All members hunger for more for themselves and from life. Our program is here to develop and change their way of thinking and perception of life.

Our members are young men that want better for themselves, their families, and their future.

Most come from poor economic and social conditions. 90% of my members come from single family homes. Each one joined because he has the motivation and passion to step away from the pack and demand more out of life. My school is made up of predominately low income families. In the neighborhood these young men grow up in the only options are college or a life on the streets. Many of my members understand "the cycle" and want to be the one in their family who breaks it. My members have the want and will to be better. Unfortunately they don't have all the resources necessary for success.

My Project

My students will be able to engage in thought provoking conversations based on the topics in the books I am requesting, Letters to and Young Brother and One Name, Two Fates, in addition to increasing their literacy. This will not only assist in their current studies but overall when interacting with people. The ties will allow students to learn professionalism. In addition, many of the people, places, and things we will expose them to require a professional dress code. The ties also will help the students maintain a proper image during school and for after school activities and meetings.

This organization is being created from scratch with no current funding.

Donations for this project will allow the students to focus on the lessons, skills, and responsibilities taught within the group without the barrier of finance. It will assist the students in placing the sole responsibility behind their success or lack there of on their shoulders, one of our main points of emphasis. Donations to our project will be the dominating factor which leads to this projects success.
