My students need a functioning hospitality/culinary exploration lab. These items will help to create a space that allows for safe cooking (the glass cook tops) as well as visual measuring representation for my ELL students.

My Students
At our school, we are a community of learners. My students are eager to learn. 92% of them chose my class as their elective as they have aspirations to work in the Hospitality or Health and Nutrition Fields. That kind of planning for your future as a 6th, 7th, and 8th grader is beyond impressive.
At our school, we service high risk communities.
You would never guess that from the caliber of student I see everyday. Every student not only pushes themselves to grow just a little everyday, but they encourage each other. Those with language barriers can find assistance at every corner from their peers. Those with academic shortcomings don't hesitate to reach out to their fellow students for help. This sense of community makes my job of leading and teaching them more rewarding than I could expect.
My Project
We are creating a classroom that can also function as our nutrition and culinary lab. In our school, we have limited space and resources. Creating an adaptable lab within the classroom will give us the flexibility to facilitate instruction in a variety of ways. The goal is to create a classroom that will mirror what they may see in their career fields. Using equipment like kitchen prep tables, culinary quality cookware and cutler on a regular basis will give them the familiarity and confidence with the equipment when they move on to their individual career paths. It will also help them prepare for what they will see in High School.
