Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are a part of a Title I school in an urban area where many come from low-income households. My students are imaginative, energetic, and full of curiosity, they bring joy into the classroom every single day. My classroom is marked with their eagerness to learn through connection and creativity. I strive to create a safe learning space where they will thrive, grow, and feel engaged.
The project will help transform our learning space into a welcoming, functional space where students can focus, feel comfortable, and explore learning concepts.
The foam carpet will provide a soft, clean surface where students can sit or stretch out with a book, while the cushions allow them flexible seating choices that help them feel at ease. Providing a breathing sphere teaches mindful breathing, emotional regulation, and focus. The durable bulletin board materials allow us to display student work to promote student ownership. Finally, cleaning cloths help us maintain a tidy and healthy space to promote student pride, love, and ownership for the learning area.
I aspire to create a calm, inspiring space that supports literacy development, but also emotional well-being and self-regulation. With these resources, our learning space will become a beloved part of the classroom, a place where students feel empowered to read, reflect, and grow.
