Creating Music on Ukuleles

Help me give my students a class set of ukuleles to play during music class!

My Students

The students at my elementary school are AWESOME! They are intelligent and curious students who love creating music! I teach kindergarten through 5th grade students and see them for approximately 45 minutes each week.

Music is math.

Music is science. Music is history. But most importantly, music is expression! It is an excellent way for my students to express themselves! What better way to showcase their creativity than on the ukulele! The past couple of years we were loaned a set to use from the county for a few weeks each year, but that only gives them a glimpse of what they could accomplish on the ukulele. It would be beneficial for them to have a set that could stay at our school all year long!

My Project

My music students are so passionate and excited to learn how to play the ukulele! Playing the ukulele allows for fun and engaging ways for students to utilizes concepts such as pitch, harmony, rhythm, creativity, expression, and improvisation. It is also a great way to teach students how to think critically, solve problems, and work as a team. These are great life skills to learn!

Due to Covid-19 guidelines suggesting no singing in the music classroom, playing the ukulele is a great alternative!

I chose ukuleles that can easily be disinfected after student use to keep everyone safe.
