Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items I’m requesting, ink cartridges, a photo printer, and two Go Pro cameras—will make a powerful difference in how my students experience and engage with math. These tools will allow us to document student work, create math-related visual projects, and capture meaningful classroom moments. For example, students will be able to use printed photos of themselves and real-life objects to explore concepts like the Pythagorean Theorem—measuring their own height or the height of classroom objects by applying right triangle principles. Using their own images makes the math feel more real, personal, and relevant, turning abstract ideas into hands-on learning.

My goals for this project are to foster creativity, deepen engagement, and help students see the real-world value of what they’re learning.

With access to a printer and cameras, we can design interactive bulletin boards, math scavenger hunts, and visual projects that bring concepts to life. To support this work, I’m also requesting a desk with wheels and heighth adjustable so students can use it in different parts of the classroom to accomodate lesson needs.I'm aslo requesting an Osprey travel backpack to safely store and transport materials. Since these resources will be shared across multiple classes, the backpack will make it easier to carry them back and forth, ensuring we’re organized and making the most of every opportunity to learn.

What makes my students special is their curiosity, resilience, and the diverse perspectives they bring to our classroom. They thrive when given the chance to express themselves and connect learning to their own experiences. This project will allow them to see themselves in math—literally and figuratively—building confidence and pride in their work. Thank you for helping create a classroom where learning is not only meaningful but memorable.
