This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a diverse and high poverty population. They are hardworking and enthusiastic about learning. Every day, they come to school despite hardships and engage in rigorous instruction. Our students take pride in our school. We are their extended family, and they count on us to educate and guide them every day. We have a large group of immigrant students. They are in our classrooms with little or no English skills. Despite their struggles, we perform at a high level.

My Project

I am requesting professional development books that will support teachers and staff to help build our student's mathematical thinking as well in providing center base materials to support the learning. Our teachers are in need of math resources to help provide meaningful math instruction in their classrooms. This proposal will help provide center based math activities, incorporate learning strategies, build fact fluency, share ideas across grade levels, and create meaningful conversations to build school-wide math success.

This book will be used as a study group as we analyze our math instruction this school year.

We realize we need to move in a different direction with our students and build engagement in math throughout our school. We are hopeful it will help support students' academic growth. Math Mindset is a way of thinking that can be successful and ultimately learn to love mathematics.
