Creating Mathematicians Through Technology

My students need more tablets in our classroom to enhance their math experience.

My Students

Many of my students come to 3rd grade lacking specific math skills. This is partly due to life circumstances beyond their control. Many are impacted by poverty and language barriers. ALL 3rd-grade students receive free lunch. One-third of them are ESL learners.

I teach in a low-income school district with a very diverse population.

This year I'm anticipating turning my classroom into a Math Workshop. I will be able to deliver a more effective curriculum to students. While some students are using the tablets to access our online math curriculum at their ability level, I will be able to meet with small groups to differentiate learning.

My Project

Our school has various laptop carts. However, there are not enough laptops available for third-grade usage on a weekly basis. Your donation will allow us to have more technology in our classroom which will lead to an increase in student achievement. Students will be assigned specific skills to practice online to close their math deficiencies.

Most of our students do not have access to a computer in their homes, therefore our classroom will allow them an opportunity to interact with technology while learning in a fun and alternative way.

Using technology to enhance the math curriculum will prepare students for greater possibilities in the future (i.e., high school, college, STEM careers, etc.)
