This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at an inner-city Title I school with 98% of the students receiving free or reduced-price lunches. Many of my students are English language learners, and they are one or two years below grade level.

My students are one of a kind!

They come from many different countries, and what most amazes me is the ability that they have to never give up and try to push forward.

Ever since I've known them, they have never sought to stop learning. With a variety of students from all over the continent, we have a few from Honduras, others come from Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Cuba.

At the moment, the main barrier is dealing with the struggles of their attention deficit starting during the COVID-19 pandemic. With these new materials, my students would be more engaged and would learn in a new, more effective way.

My Project

My students are enthusiastic about school, but struggle with Math and Language Arts content. Children attending my school live in a low socioeconomic area, and they don't have access to technology. The primary goal of using flexible sitting and a Math Addition Machine is to create a center that will provide multiple functions such as Access to iReady, Reflex Math, Prodigy, MyOn, Kahoot, etc.

Flexible sitting and a Math Addition Machine will also help to improve my students' fluency abilities by working with numbers and operation, geometry, measurement, and algebraic thinking.

These resources will also help develop the critical thinking of the students by having them understand and comprehend the basic process of reading word problems.

With these improvements in the classroom, the students will be able to develop a well-rounded and mixed learning system that will help them succeed! It will be an enormous source of knowledge, diverse as my students. With the support of these new items in our class, there will be a vast improvement in their learning systems.

My second goal is to offer them the right opportunities to foster their math skills, creativity, and thirst for knowledge. Those sitting will be a great resource to allow them tons of web-based learning and educational programs and activities that children at my school could benefit from. Having access to the programs could assist with school success, social skills, and Math skills.
