Creating Magic With Read Alouds

My Students

As a Literacy Specialist in a Title I school, I work with kindergarten and first grade struggling readers in small groups. These students entered school with limited literacy backgrounds, home support, and English proficiency. They love hearing books read aloud!

A more diverse library would allow my students to see themselves in the books that we read together.

My Project

I would like my classroom library to be as diverse as the students I teach. Children need to see themselves in a variety of books so they can relate to the characters and be inspired throughout the year. My students and I engage in critical conversations about topics that arise in the books that I read out loud. These enticing book titles will help them continue to make connections with literature.

Sharing books with students and teachers is my passion!

As a Literacy Specialist, I share my love of books with the teachers at my school, many who come to see what new books I’ve gotten recently. Your donation will help my students and colleagues discover the joy of great books.
