My Students

My little scholars are sweet as pie with a glimmer of curiosity in their eyes. They remind me of a diverse bunch of goodies in a candy store. Each one contributes uniqueness with hope and a mix of creativity. They love learning and discovering the world around them. They are funny and often unpredictable but always inquisitive and wanting to know more.

My students are all residents of DC and receive free lunch.

Although many experience challenges outside of the classroom, they typically attend school eager to engage with teachers and staff. Because of the current pandemic, they are experiencing uncertainty and concern. My students thrive when there is consistency, clear expectations, and when their needs are met.

My Project

Books, Books, and More Books!!! This project supports early literacy by providing my first-grade scholars with access to a wide variety of picture books. These picture books of various grade-level topics offer my scholars a rich, engaging, and culturally relevant experience.

Each book selected will help to magically transport my students into another world and time.

These books are about different people who persevere, the impact of airplanes on our world, astronomy, animals, money, our body, and different American symbols. Not only are my scholars developing an understanding of the world around them, but they are also developing a love for books.
