My Project

As a 7th grade ELA teacher, one of my favorite aspects of my job is inspiring students to read, and teaching them that reading is FUN! Through reading various genres as a class, having fruitful discussions, and coming to conclusions about characters and the story line that we hadn't previously considered, we are fostering a love for reading that will hopefully stick with these students as they continue to grow.

Many of my students struggle at home with necessities- some also struggle to have a quiet and calming place to complete work or to get lost in their favorite book.

The flexible seating options will allow the students to be cozy up with their book of choice, and be comfortable as they read, while also helping them focus on their reading comprehension. This is one of my favorite things to do when I am reading my favorite book, and my students deserve to experience this too. I have often heard "I can't complete my work at home because I have to babysit my little brother" or "I share a room with my cousin, so I can't focus at home."

Students have expressed a need for new books to add to our class library. Additionally, students always need pencils to write with, and to use to complete their work. Please support me in fostering a love of reading for my 7th graders.
