Creating Love For Books! Every Page Is A New Adventure!
Help me give my students new books! My students are amazing readers! They are always looking for the newest and latest books to read. We love reading and these books will give them more opportunities to read.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher working in a school with high poverty and diverse backgrounds, I am exposed to seeing my students struggle daily. Whether it is not having school supplies or the tools they need at home to be successful. These obstacles may prevent them from reaching their full potential.
My students are strong willed, focused, motivated, and amazing readers!
My students are very active and full of energy. They show me this every day from the moment I greet them at the door in my classroom. I want them to be able to reach their full potential. Sometimes I feel I can only do so much in my classroom while they are under my care. Once they go home, I can not control how they live their lives, but I am hoping I can make a positive impact on them during our time together by giving them the tools they need to make positive choices.
My Project
With every new book, with every new page turned, my students are learning to love books and reading. Every day my 2nd grade students come into my classroom and are always excited to see what books we will read next. They carefully and critically select the books that they will read for the morning. They pick books with colorful pictures, things that look exciting to them, and things they can relate to. I am hoping to give my students an even deeper love of reading for all books. My students come from different backgrounds. They are all at different levels. Their one thing in common is they love to read. I want to give them the materials that will help not only create stronger and more critical thinkers, but open up their minds and imaginations to all of the endless possibilities a book can give you.
