Help me give my students access to different reading materials. With your help, we can provide students with access to topics and articles they are interested in, even if they are below grade level.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very close and have been learning in a small school since they were in kindergarten. They are kind to each other and always help one another to succeed. They are leaders and are not afraid to be different. They have character and see the good in life. They never fail to make me smile.
They notice when another student is struggling and step in right away to support each other.
My Project
Students can use these Scholastic magazine subscriptions to read at home. I will be able to assign these articles through Google Classroom and students can listen to and learn from nonfiction and fiction passages in an engaging way while accessing the physical copy as well. I believe this will get kids more excited about reading. Our 4th graders also need access to materials that can teach them about math and science and how to apply them to the real world.
Many books in lower levels lack exciting pictures and text.
The book sets will help engage our lower level readers who are at least 2 grade levels behind. These will allow them to listen and learn without feeling left out when their peers are reading exciting character series. Then they can talk with each other about what they have learned, increasing discussion all around.
