Creating Lifelong Passionate Readers

My students need independent reading books from a myriad of authors and genres to spark their passion for reading.

My Students

My students come from all walks of life, creating a diverse classroom where they learn from one another on a daily basis. I want them to grow up to be critical thinkers and life-long learners who are compassionate, empathetic, and cognizant of anyone and everyone. The students who I have the pleasure of teaching are absolutely amazing. I may be partial, but they are thoughtful teenagers who are going to change the world!

It is time to invest in their futures now, by bringing them the best educational tools to help them succeed in their current and future endeavors in order to create innovative leaders of the future with social-emotional intelligence to build their character, kindness, mindfulness, and empathy.

I try to do this every day, but it really does take a village!

My Project

Reading is one of the most important life skills for students to master. I have done a pretty good job at reaching most of my students; however, I always need to update my library with the newest and most asked for titles to keep the passion alive. They have the ability; they just don't have the access to books that interest them.

With this project, I would literally be able to put a book in their hands that I know they would love, which would improve their reading skills, critical thinking skills, and hopefully, create lifelong passionate readers (my goal).

Books are the windows to our souls. They allow us to imagine different worlds, think critically, analyze and evaluate different situations and empathize with others. They make us laugh and cry in only a couple of pages. They allow us to escape the reality of life and they say the things that we didn't even know that we wanted to say. This classroom library will provide books that are more diverse and pique the interest of my students!
