Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come in like little sponges-ready to soak up all we have to teach them, regardless of their starting point. For many, kindergarten is their first school experience!
Most children come from low income families and the entire district gets free breakfast and lunch.
The situations the children come from do not provide them with an educational foundation however, their willingness and excitement about learning is not diminished. Although the students come from neighborhoods all over the city we have a safe learning community that everyone contributes to.
My Project
Having easy access to books and seeing them displayed in organized enticing way will encourage my beginner readers to grab a book that looks interesting to them-even though they can't read it yet. The library will be about fostering a love of books and reading! Students will have access to the books on both the bookstand and in the bins which will correspond to the themes we are learning about. The books will change as we move through the seasons and our curriculum units so the students will have something new and look forward to the new books they will be able to explore.
