Creating Life-Long Lovers of Reading!

My students need a leveled library that includes both fiction and non-fiction texts available to them at their independent reading levels in order to build comprehension and create a love of reading.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. W.'s classroom raised $912

My Students

As a teacher in a Title I, low-income/high poverty school district, my students are often faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these hardships, my students always come to school eager to learn. Almost all of these students are given a school lunch due to their socioeconomic status. During the school day, these students are my kids; my children. I treat them as if they were my own, and I would do just about anything for them because they deserve the world and more; however, I can only do so much. Being an educator in a district that barely provides its educators with the necessary resources to do our job is very disheartening. Our children deserve all of the tools and materials needed to help them achieve and become successful!

My Project

Your generous donations to my project will help to make a huge difference in the lives of my students. Children need to be able to read texts at their independent reading levels in order to fully engage with a book and build comprehension. If a child is engaged with a text, they can then begin to make connections. When children make these connections, they can then begin to enjoy and build a love for reading. This, in turn, will help to boost the children's confidence and also help to create a life-long lover of reading!

With these leveled texts, my students will have books readily available at their fingertips that are catered to their independent reading levels; books that are "just right" for them.

My school is implementing a brand new reading program this upcoming school year that specifically hones in and focuses on children choosing texts to their interest, and these leveled texts will help with just that!
